ECM: The EC-Manager controller for ENERGY Saving Evolution

The EC-Family series is the most complete and innovative technological control system for the best functionality of EC motors (single and three phase) applied to fans. It allow to adjust the ventilation system according to the functional need of Energy Saving and to amplify the intrinsic potential Green Power of EC fans.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Optimization: the essence of the results created thanks to SELPRO know-how and the partnership with LUVE-Group and Ebm-papst.

The collaboration between SELPRO, LUVE-Group and ebm-papst has brought to develop the ECM (EC-Manager) System Controller that integrates in a single Plug & Play control device all the specific Wet & Dry management capabilities, for ventilated heat exchangers of HVAC & R systems.

Thanks to the integration between the SELPRO know-how and ebm-papst Modbus protocol and through LUVE Group experience, a new Technical Standard has been defined to make easy and efficient the management of a ventilated heat exchanger, amplifying the green potential of ebm-papst EC fans Technology.

With ECM, the library of the working (Input and Holding) parameters of the fans and the controller system is always available through the serial communication RS-485 (Modbus RTU standard).

ECM, available for IP55 or DIN-rail application, can operate as a stand-alone unit or, thanks to the “bridge” function, can receive the works commands and provide all the information to an external control or to a supervising system. Furthermore it is able to supervise, to acquire and to preserve all the working parameters, the warning and the systems alarms (Black-Box function) analyzable in case of system technical failure, and it can also interact with the working parameters to stabilize and to optimize the fans control (PID auto-tuning function).

In the Plug & Play structure of ECM, has been integrated the software IES (Intelligent Energy Saving), which contains all the technical regulation solutions for ventilated heat exchangers (condensers and dry coolers), and also allows to a NOT trained operator to get ready the system in simple and immediate way.

The ECM automatically set up with all the parameters, already programmed for the management of fans and the adiabatic system (Adiabatic-Booster), through the selection of one of n. 14 function codes always available and customizable by the customer thanks to SELPRO Clima-Sinergy Software (function Know-how protection).

The ECM, approved by Ebm-papst and applied in HVAC&R Systems by LUVE Group from 2010, represents the technological environment most complete and innovative to optimize the overall management of electronically commutated motors (EC) applied on axial and centrifugal fans, allowing to overdraw the efficiency of Functional Energy Saving system with Ebm-papst EC fans.

IES - Intelligent Energy Saving is the management algorithm of efficient power, the completion of an advanced regulation system, that when applied to the control of a ventilation unit of a cooling system, can increase efficiency (COP), drastically reducing energy consumption of the compressor (-27%).

CLIMA-SINERGY

AN INNOVATIVE SOFTWARE FOR SUPERVISION MONITORING CONTROL

Designed to interact with SELPRO regulators and ventilation systems, the software collects operating parameters and then analyses and modifies them to optimise system performance during regulation.
System Features:

  • Data Logger Mode: monitoring and acquisition of functional data, systems and components of regulation.
  • Scheduler Mode: planning timing control functions via Modbus: simplifies and reduces installation costs.
  • Multi-Server Diagnostics: monitors the functional performance of units of fans and during regulation. Collects, preserves and transmits information (via WEB - SMS - Modem - etc.).

Function Mode

    • Master – automatic controller:
      the control can be programmed to operate in two different modes:
      • PID with "IES" technology to maintain the controlled variable (eg temperature, pressure) at the set value (set-point)
      • P (Proportional) to maintain the controlled variable (eg temperature, pressure) within the proportional band.
    • Slave Unit:
      the fans regulation changes directly/inversely to the incoming signal/s.
The regulation can be Direct (DIR) or Reverse (REV).

The alarm System is visible on the display, and is supported remotely, with different programmable modes, by the switching of 2 dedicated relays: one for alarms and one for signaling anomalies that do not stop the plant.
There are many additional features including:
  • the automatic configuration of the system, depending on the selected mode: Modbus or 0-10Vdc
  • the Automatic configuration based on the available protocols: ebm-papst and Ziehl-Abegg
  • fans sequential address (ID), automatic or manual, single or bradcast

What's

EC Manager device is a multifunction digital unit, with 3 transducer inputs, specialized for the managment of EC fans Motors. Designed using a "state of art" microcontroller, is suited to have a choice of 13 different default configurations. EC Manager is the only controller with integrated ebm-past and Ziehl-Abegg protocols, ready to drive EC fans trough Master Modbus network and Master 0-10Vdc net connections. It’s optimized with software “IES”, the innovative control algorithm for HVAC&R applications. The Management of WET&DRY System (adiabatic booster) is included in the firmware, driving an optional Spray system with its own Set-Point and proportional band. Using a serial Modbus (RTU) line, it’s possible to read & write all the control parameters of the devices and all the fans, testing and adjusting also the state of the machine from a remote sites. A Selpro software called Clima-Sinergy is already allowable. What's

Control unit for motorized actuators, with input signal 0-10Vdc (std.). Digital setting of all the configuration and the works parameters. The six-digit display provides with immediate indication of the state of: the system in regulation, the inputs and outputs control and the alarms. The controller has two analog inputs, with automatic selection of major, and two complete sets of parameters for the two independent set point. The operator can select one of the twelve (12) working configurations from the keyboard, including conversions Volt, mA and Bar, covering all applications of ventilation systems. All the configurations available are ready to work, with all the preset parameters The device is connectable to a Modbus (RTU) network, and to the CLIMA-Sinergy software, that monitoring the work of the system, making available remotely all the parameters, and reading all the states of the ventilated heat exchanger.
