    Overview according to product groups

    The ventilation technology business category at ZIEHL-ABEGG consists of four major divisions, our main product groups. We would like to introduce you these in a short summary. For further information on the products within the particular product groups, please follow the hyperlinks given below.
     
    AXIAL FANS

    For axial fans the concept of a propeller is applied. The flow through the impeller with the (propeller) blade is largely parallel to the rotor shaft, thus, the name axial fans. The rotating blade has a complex profile to achieve highest efficency. Basically, the operating principle can be discribed like this: the air on the suction side flows constantly from all parts of the room to the inlet. Thus the inlet ring acts as a suction head. On the delivery side the air is ejected along the axis, effected by by the motion of the fan blades, pushing the air through the fan.

    Axial fans are mainly used for low pressure and larger air volumes. Ventilation, heating and cooling are thus the main application areas.

    CENTRIFUGAL FANS

    With centrifugal fans, it is usual for the direction of the air flow to change by an angle of 90 degrees.
    Free running impellers and scroll fans differ in that scroll fans require a volute casing to generate pressure.

    Centrifugal fans are used for higher pressures and medium air volume flows. They are also used in ducted applications. Centrifugal fans provide great versatility in ventilation, cooling and air conditioning applications.

    ELECTRICAL DRIVES FOR FANS

    ZIEHL-ABEGG external rotor motors combine the advantages of compact construction with the proven drive concept of a squirrel-cage motor (offered in two material types aluminium for eff2, copper for eff1), or a high efficiency EC motor.
    Drives from ZIEHL-ABEGG feature excellent constant speed characteristics.

    Tailor-made drive solutions for the most varied applications can be realised by operating ZIEHL-ABEGG motors with matched frequency inverters and EC controllers. These solutions include amongst others: auxiliary drives for printing units, drives for automotive engineering, auxiliary drives for the paper industry, bowling-alley drives and compressor drives.

    CONTROLLERS FOR FANS

    Alongside the ventilation range of products there is an extensive range of control technology available, used to regulate the speed of fans. Through fan speed regulation, the air flow delievered by the fan is controlled. The whole purpose of fan speed control is to achieve optimal air quality levels – for example in occupied rooms or for industrial processes.
    ZIEHL-ABEGG develops and produces controllers utilising different methods of speed control. This variety of fan speed control methods enables ZIEHL-ABEGG to offer fan speed control solutions which are accurately aligned with the preferences and demands of discerning customers.

    GEARLESS ELEVATOR MACHINES

    With the gearless drives ZETASYN and ZETATOP, ZIEHL-ABEGG offers elevator machines for machine room-less elevators of the highest calibre. Both machine types are optimised for individual applications: ZETASYN normally is installed at the bottom of the elevator shaft. It is slim enough to allow the cabin to drive past the machine. The design of ZETATOP is sufficiently compact that standard shaft dimensions can be retained with the installation at the top of the elevator shaft.

    The ZAF elevator machine is most often installed in the machine room. Compact design, long lifetime and low noise levels are features of ZAF machines.

    Asynchronous lift motors from ZIEHL-ABEGG are optimised for elevator applications. They are designed for operation with frequency inverters. The mounting of a hand wheel is possible at any time. VFD motors are characterised by low energy consumption and smooth, silent motion.
